Duties and Responsibilities

  • *Support faculty development teams and community partners in designing and implementing summer programs exchange programs and self-determination training initiatives.
  • *Plan and coordinate logistical components for on-campus residential training and exchange activities including scheduling materials facilities and participant support. Program activities may be held before and after normal working hours and/or on weekends/holidays and at some offsite locations.
  • *Develop and implement marketing and recruitment strategies in partnership with internal and external organizations.
  • *Serve as the primary on-site lead for residential training activities remaining on campus overnight to ensure participant safety provide support and address emergent issues.
  • Assist the Project Coordinator in supervising Peer Mentors including developing schedules and leading weekly meetings.
  • *Serve as the programs information specialist supporting high-quality information flow among internal staff and partners.
  • Manage program information and resources by developing organizing updating and disseminating materials across multiple platforms and formats.
  • Evaluate and apply emerging information technologies research findings and evidence-based methods to improve program operations and resource accessibility.
  • Support program data collection documentation and evaluation efforts including contributions to compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education Social Sciences Human Services Information Sciences or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for program coordination student support or information/resource management serving varied populations; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of program coordination student support or information/resource management serving varied populations as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
  3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with program coordination student support or information/resource management serving varied populations.
  4. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.
  5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  8. If applicable for supervisory work demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.
  9. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds including (but not limited to) individuals with disabilities first-generation students and individuals from wide-ranging experiences.
  10. Demonstrated ability to work independently take initiative and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  11. Ability to work a flexible schedule including before and after normal working hours weekends and/or holidays.
  12. Ability to travel independently to various locations throughout the state of Hawaii in a timely manner. Requirement may be fulfilled by a valid Hawaii Drivers License (Class 3) or other means of transportation which meets position needs.


Desirable Qualifications

  1. Possession of a Masters degree in Education Social Sciences Human Services Information Science or a related field.
  2. Experience working in post-secondary education settings including student support academic affairs or co-curricular program coordination.
  3. Experience with project coordination or research support activities such as developing surveys managing data systems contributing to reports or manuscripts or supporting grant proposal preparation.
  4. Experience designing or implementing marketing outreach or participant recruitment strategies in partnership with community organizations.
  5. Experience applying information systems digital resources or educational technologies to improve program operations or resource accessibility.
