The Dean for the newly formed College of Health Studies charts the course for the College within Rios Mission Vision and Strategic Plan and serves as an advocate for the related programs at University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Commununity College. Reporting directly to the Provost the Dean serves on the Provosts Cabinet the Presidents Administrative Council the Academic Policy Committee and will lead the Holzer School of Nursing (AAS and BSN) School of Allied Health & Exercise Studies (Medical Assisting DMS Rad Tech Respiratory Therapy Sports & Exercise Studies Healthcare Admin Public Health and Master of Science in Nursing graduate programs. The Dean serves as the chief administrative officer of the College and has curricular budgetary and personnel responsibilities for approximately 35 full-time faculty and staff. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Plan organize and direct academic programs in the College in accordance with Rios mission vision and Strategic Plan to obtain optimum student learning and program cost effectiveness.
- Establish operational policies and procedures and develop academic objectives for the College.
- Work with faculty committees to recruit interview recommend and hire new full- and part-time faculty.
- Work with academic and administrative personnel to disseminate information identify problems monitor progress reports and ensure adherence to goals/objectives.
- Evaluate the performance of faculty and support staff in the College.
- Advise faculty staff and students on problems relating to policies program administration and financial and personal matters and recommend solutions.
- Promote and ensure excellence in teaching scholarship and service both in the College of Health Studies and at Rio in general.
- Manage the Colleges financial resources.
- Maintain and develop external connections advisory boards collaboration and partnerships
- Provide oversight of grant-funded initiatives and funding allocations.
- Represent the College of Health Studies and the Rio Grande at local regional and state levels as appropriate.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: - Earned doctorate in a health-related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Experience commensurate with a high-profile academic leadership position.
- Full-time faculty experience (commensurate with tenure and promotion to the rank of professor) with a track record of successful experience and accomplishments in teaching excellence and innovation and research/scholarly endeavors.
- Demonstrated commitment to leading and supporting academic program quality including experience with program accreditation at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
- Demonstrated record of effective academic leadership with experience in planning and program development/review.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience working with all populations of students.
- Strong knowledge of university admissions financial aid academic and other policies and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of college curriculum degree requirements and other academic matters.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated record of advocating for faculty and students evidence of consensus building academic and personal integrity and enthusiasm for higher education.
