Job Summary

Status: Full Time Salaried FLSA Classification: Exempt

The Chief financial Officer will be responsible for budget development fiscal oversight financial reporting bookkeeping and developing efficient fiscal operations and procedures. Other responsibilities include providing leadership and training for direct reports offering strategic recommendations creating financial forecasting process advising on long-term financial planning and collaborating with other department heads for consistent reporting of budgets.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead enterprise-wide budget development forecasting and long-range financial planning ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and sustainability goals.
  • Provide clear timely financial analysis and reportingto executive leadership the Board of Directors and the Finance Committee to support informed decision-making.
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the CEO and senior leadership translating complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrate exceptional financial acumen building upon recent financial improvements and driving continued progress toward fiscal stability and growth.
  • Demonstrated expertise in government and non-profit accounting including grant compliance cost reimbursement structures and the financial reporting requirements associated with federal state and county funding streams.
  • Strong command of GAAP reporting government compliance frameworks and regulatory reporting including experience supporting or overseeing single audits grants reporting and governmental funding reconciliations.
  • Partner closely with billing accounting and direct service leadershipto ensure financial processes support operational realities and mission delivery.
  • Actively learn and understand the needs of the billing and revenue cycle teams strengthening collaboration and improving communication between finance and program leadership.
  • Provide strategic financial leadership in an organization that has experienced operating deficits with demonstrated experience contributing to or leading a successful financial turnaround.
  • Oversee financial strategy while working collaboratively with the accounting function recognizing that day-to-day accounting operations are managed separately allowing the CFO to focus on strategy analysis and leadership.
  • Foster a collaborative transparent and accountable finance culture strengthening cross-functional relationships and trust across the organization.
  • Exhibit strong people management and leadership skills including the ability to mentor staff set clear expectations and lead through change with proven ability to lead and manage a full accounting function including oversight of accounts payable accounts receivable general ledger management financial close processes and internal controls.
  • Experience building mentoring and managing accounting teams establishing clear accountability for financial operations while ensuring accurate and timely reporting across a multi-program organization.
  • Bring a hands-on mission-aligned leadership style appropriate for a nonprofit or human services environment.
  • Be based in or near the Harrisburg area with the ability to engage regularly and in person with leadership staff and board members.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Masters degree in accounting or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant Certification (CPA)
  • Minimum 10 years of financial analysis and c-suite communication experience
  • Proficient in MS 365 Suite and cloud-based financial software
  • Additionally the CFO should possess strong organizational leadership supervisory and communication skills.

This position works a hybrid schedule between remote and in the office.
