Job Summary

SENIOR GRADE MEDICAL SCIENTIST HISTOLOGY

(Maternity Cover/Specified Purpose Contract 35hrs/wk)

Applications are invited to apply for the position of Senior Grade Medical Scientist Specified purpose contract full-time position. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated & enthusiastic candidate who will work in our Histology Department as a Senior Grade Medical Scientist.

The candidate must possess the following at a minimum:

Be registered on the Medical Scientists Register maintained by the Medical Scientists Registration Board at CORU or Satisfy the conditions set out in Section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (proof of application for registration with the Medical Scientists Registration Board at CORU to be provided).
Level 9 post graduate qualification or equivalent qualification at minimum Level 9 validated by the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine essential.
Four years full time clinical experience as a Medical Scientist in Histology in a Medical Laboratory is essential.
A good knowledge and understanding of Joint Commission International and experience in INAB accreditation to ISO 15189 standard desirable.
Be flexible and capable of working independently and as part of a team in our multidisciplinary department.
IT skills essential.
Excellent communication/interpersonal skills essential.
Participation in the On-Call rota required.
