DescriptionThe apprentice will work closely with every member of the Vocal Arts team to become familiar with all aspects of the Juilliard Vocal Arts Office. They will assist with producing performance activities including masterclasses concerts recitals residencies and auditions. They will also assist with producing operas primarily with ticketing management and program creation. Finally they will offer daily administrative support to the Vocal Arts Office including but not limited to scheduling document preparation writing a weekly newsletter and managing complimentary ticket offers for students.
An ideal candidate is interested in a career in arts administration or music education and is passionate about classical vocal music. Previous experience may include producing and organizing concerts scheduling work with singers or young singers and / or work within an educational organization.

The salary is $18.50 per hour for 40 weeks or a contracted amount of $29600.00 for the school year.
About the Professional Apprentice Program: This program provides immersive training for emerging performing arts technicians and administrators addressing the need for practical training in the field. For over four decades it has prepared recent graduates early-career professionals and individuals undergoing career transitions for employment in the cultural sector. This is achieved through hands-on experience professional development and networking and mentorship opportunities.

- Under the guidance of Vocal Arts team of experienced arts administrators assist the daily administrative operations and performance activities associated with the department. Specific assignments are catered to the Apprentices interests as well as the needs of the department.
- Assist Vocal Arts administrators with management and logistics of curricular and extra-curricular performance activities as assigned. Past assignments have included assisting and/or leading management of recitals and concerts (such as the Liederabend series Wednesdays at One curricular songbooks etc.) internal master classes and residencies and collaborations with other departments at Juilliard (such as Collaborative Piano Historical Performance Juilliard Orchestra among others).
- Gather and edit program materials for assigned concerts and recitals as applicable.
- Support day-of management of assigned projects (i.e. dress rehearsals and performances for concerts and events).
- Support the Schedule & Program Administrative with building individualized weekly schedules for faculty students and guest artists during the school year as assigned.
- Oversee ticketing for various performance activities.
- Interact with and support all of Vocal Arts constituents including students faculty staff guest artists directors and conductors throughout the year.
- Serve as editor of the Vocal Arts Departmental Yearbook.
- Assist with additional Vocal Arts activities and general office work.
- Bachelors Degree or related professional experience and transferable skills or a combination of both.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in very busy environment.
- Ability to interact and communicate well with people of various backgrounds adapting with ease.
- Discretion integrity and calm under potentially stressful circumstances.
- Desire to assess prioritize and find creative solutions when problem-solving.
- Must be able to read a music score.
- A strong interest in a career in arts administration.
- A working knowledge of classical music particularly opera and vocal music.
