    REPORTS TO: Superintendent

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full Time Salary 260-day contract with vacation days.

    SALARY: Salary as recommended by the Superintendent within Board established range.

    PURPOSE:Be dedicated to the development of lifelong learners by providing leadership supervisory and administrative skills that promote the education development of each student.


    MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
    Marion Independent School District is seeking the next leader of the Marion Homeschool Assistance Program (MHSAP) who shares the districts core values of Academic Excellence and Collaborative Relationships and is ready to operationalize the Mission ofFostering a community of learners in developing the knowledge and skills to be Future Director will function as the program administrator and instructional leader for the MHSAP (located at the Emerson Learning Center) a K-12 HSAP and as a collaborative member of the Marion Independent School District (MISD) team of administrators. MISDis located in Marion Iowa and is a part of the larger Cedar Rapids metro area. As the smallest district in the metro area MISD offers the perfect balance of a small school family feel along with big school amenities. The MHSAP is the largest HSAP in the state of Iowa serving approximately 1200 K-12 students annually.

    The Director will be responsible for effective administration of all the laws policies regulations and rules that apply to the operation of the HSAP and of the district as a member of the district administrative team. Specifically as the program administrator the Director will carry out the following essential duties and responsibilities aligned to the Iowa Standards for School Leaders:

    MISSION VISION AND CORE VALUES

    • In partnership with families and program staff develop advocate and enact a shared mission vision and core values of high-quality education and academic success and well-being of each student.
    • Supervise the development and delivery of programming that support the vision mission goals and core values of the district and the home school program as well as high expectations for teaching and learning.

    ETHICS AND PROFESSIONAL NORMS

    • Act ethically and according to professional norms to promote each familys pursuit of success and well-being for their child(ren).
    • Demonstrate effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders in the operation of the program.
    • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
    • Demonstrate ethical trustworthy and professional behavior.
    • Treat others fairly equitably and with dignity and respect.
    • Behave in a respectful manner with all other administrators thus promoting the effectiveness of the administrative team with interacting to make District decisions.

    CURRICULUM INSTRUCTION AND ASSESSMENT

    • Cultivate an inclusive caring and supportive school community that promotes each familys pursuit of success and well-being for their child(ren).
    • Ensure barriers to student learning are identified and addressed.

    PROFESSIONAL CAPACITY OF SCHOOL PERSONNEL

    • Develop the professional capacity and practice of school personnel to promote each familys pursuit of success and well-being for their child(ren).
    • Oversee recruitment hiring professional learning and retention of all building instructional and support staff to ensure quality programming.
    • Evaluate staff performance and provide mentoring/coaching of staff toward continuous professional growth.
    • Provide leadership encouragement opportunities and structure for all staff to continually design and implement more effective teaching and learning experiences for all students.

    PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY FOR TEACHERS AND STAFF

    • Foster a professional community of teachers and other professional staff to promote each students success and well-being.
    • Foster positive interpersonal relations among students teachers administrators and with other stakeholders.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of educational practices and communicate effectively with all the District and building educators and parents.
    • Manage the necessary building meetings to assure appropriate district actions and citizen involvement.
    • Present a positive personal image in all internal and external interactions that reflect on the Marion Independent School District.

    MEANINGFUL ENGAGEMENT OF FAMILIES AND COMMUNITY

    • Engage families and the community in meaningful reciprocal and mutually beneficial ways to promote each familys pursuit of success and well-being for their child(ren).
    • Establish and maintain a building culture that positively promotes the program to its stakeholders.

    OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT

    • Manage school operations and resources to promote each students success and well-being.
    • Communicate and work with students staff and families to resolve issues and concerns.
    • Assume responsibility for the safety of all personnel and exercise decisive leadership in crisis situations.
    • Maintain the building and recommend improvements to facilities within the limits of district resources.

    SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT

    • Act as agents of continuous improvement to promote each students success and well-being.


    SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education & Experience:

    1. A bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university required a masters degree preferred
    2. A valid Iowa administrative license preferred
    3. A valid Iowa evaluator approval or ability to obtain
    4. Prior experience with a HSAP preferred
    5. Prior leadership experience as an administrator or teacher leader preferred
