Nishimura & Asahi is a leading Japanese law firm with a growing London office that advises Japanese and international clients on complex crossborder matters. Our London office opened in February 2025 and currently is comprised of six lawyers qualified to practise in Japan and England. As part of our ongoing expansion we are seeking a midlevel associate to join our corporate practice in the London office.
This is a unique opportunity to work closely within a small collaborative seniorled team advising on highquality crossborder transactions with a strong focus on Japan.
The Role
You will be involved in a broad range of corporate matters with a particular focus on crossborder M&A and joint ventures. The role primarily involves advising Japanese clients investing in the UK and Europe as well as assisting European clients making investments in Japan. The position offers early responsibility direct client exposure and the opportunity to increase your English law expertise with a Londonbased practice that has a genuinely international outlook.
Candidate Qualifications
Essential
Qualification: Solicitor qualified to practice in England & Wales
Experience: 25 years PQE in corporate law particularly M&A joint ventures and crossborder transactions
Flexibility to support a broad range of international transactions including willingness to start work early when required to accommodate Japan time
Strong attention to detail when drafting and reviewing complex agreements
Willingness and ability to support business development activities
Comfortable working in a bilingual environment and collaborating closely with colleagues in Tokyo
Desirable
Businesslevel Japanese
Work experience in Japan
