Job Summary

Job Description/Responsibilities

The Cooperage Manager is responsible for managing the barrel production function at the plant. Duties include coordinating and directing the manufacturing operators to achieve scheduled production monitor and update quality standards and government regulations relating to production assign & train personnel for production and problem solve & recommend improvements as necessary. Coordinate shipments with Logistics Manager and customer warehouse managers.

PRIORITIES

  • Exceeding expectations across all customer segments including external and internal customers. Needs in all areas are anticipated and requests and complaints are addressed as much as possible to the satisfaction of all customers. Creating raving fans of
  • Comprehensive safety program developed and led by team members and managers to include safety training initiatives written safety programs and rules tailored to the work of individual departments and designed to at least meet Federal State and provincial safety requirements.
  • PDS system design and implementation to include active PDS evaluation for each team member with regular feedback sessions between team member and manager overall grid rating for each team member 360 degree feedback program. Identify the #1 Skill to be developed by each team member.
  • Create Implement and Evaluate cost saving projects that will drive costs out of the business without resulting in a reduction in quality.
  • Continuous communication and reinforcement of company culture. Team Member assessment of culture monitored on regular basis via Sazerac Culture Survey and limited use of Best Places to Work surveys. Tangible results in improvement of culture scores based on survey feedback.
  • An ongoing effort to improve products services or processes. These efforts can seek incremental improvement over time or breakthrough improvement all at once. All are evaluated in the light of their efficiency effectiveness and flexibility.
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators for all company disciplines and create a system that will automatically extract and/or collect data for each indicator that will be displayed in Dashboards and Reports

Qualifications/Requirements

MUST

  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • Bachelors degree

PREFERRED

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Working knowledge of ms office products (word excel and outlook)

EXPERIENCE

MUST

  • 5 years management experience
  • 5 years experience designing and/or implementing osha haccp usda programs
  • 10 years supervisory experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to pick up and/or move objects up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts
  • Ability to work in wet humid conditions (non-weather)
  • Noise level at work station is loud (metal can manufacturing large earth moving equipment)
  • Ability to work 8 hour shift
  • Ability to work overtime if necessary
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to read and write
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • In-person job attendance
