Job Summary

Assistant Superintendent

Location: District Administrative Center -Leadership-Secondary

Starting Salary: $147695.82

240 work days

Start Date: 7/1/2026

Purpose Statement:

The job of Assistant Superintendent of Leadership- Secondary is done for the following purpose/s; providing information and serving as a resource to others; achieving defined objective by planning evaluating developing and implementing and maintaining services in compliance with established guidelines; and serving as a member of the leadership team.

This job reports to Superintendent.

Essential Functions:

Supervise and evaluate middle and high school principals.

Supervise and respond to the needs of the daily management of the secondary schools.

Develop meeting agendas to facilitate the development and improvement of building level leadership.

Facilitate district long-range planning efforts.

Coordinate training program for new administrators with the other Instructional Support Assistant Superintendent.

Prepare drafts of needed Governing Board Policies and Administrative Handbook entries for the Superintendents review and action. Provide training on policy implementation as needed.

Supervise and evaluate the work of the Director of Special Education.

Supervise and evaluate the work of the Director of CTE.

Supervise and evaluate the work of the Director of Community Education.

Supervise and evaluate the work of the PVOline Coordinator.

Work closely with the other Instructional Support Assistant Superintendent to support the improvement of instruction and student performance.

Facilitate district oversight for the work of the middle school and high school head counselors and their supervising administrators. Provide oversight for the districts site-based counseling programs.

Administer the Title V grant program.

Supervise and evaluate the work of the Director of Student Services.

Supervise and evaluate the work of the Director of Information Technology.

Interpret the programs philosophy and policies of the district to staff students and the community at large.

Maintain liaison with social professional civic volunteer and other community agencies and groups having an interest in the schools.

Serve as the District Title IX compliance officer.

Prepare state reports and claims as required.

Attend Board meetings and prepare such reports as the Superintendent may request.

Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.

Other Functions:

Serves on Superintendents Cabinet.

Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the Superintendent for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using a variety of software applications; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and possessing strong written and oral communication skills.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform accounting and budgeting; review and interpret highly technical information write technical materials and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: accounting pertinent laws codes policies and/or regulations; personnel processes; standard business practices; risk management program planning and development; concepts of grammar and punctuation; safety practices and procedures; and conflict resolution.

ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities meetings and/or events; routinely gather collate and/or classify data. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances to analyze data. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize specific job-related equipment. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups and individuals; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with detailed information/data.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve objectives in the areas supervised; managing a department; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the jobs functions.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting 10% walking and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Experience:Job related experience within a specialized field is required.

At least five years of successful school district experience in a public K-12 educational setting including experience in areas related to job responsibilities

Experience and knowledge of modern managerial processes and collaborative approaches to problem solving

Working knowledge of personal computer software for spreadsheets word-processing and presentations

Knowledge and ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Governing Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Education: Minimum of a Doctorate degree required
