Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports engineering and production teams by assisting with the development testing implementation and maintenance of manufacturing processes and systems in a heavy manufacturing environment. This role plays a key part in improving efficiency quality and safety on the production floor while ensuring that equipment tools and systems operate at optimal performance levels.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist engineers in designing developing and implementing manufacturing processes procedures and tooling for new and existing products.
Monitor test and troubleshoot production processes equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
Collect and analyze production data to identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements in workflow layout or tooling.
Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action plans for process or quality issues.
Draft and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) work instructions and process documentation.
Participate in process capability studies time studies and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. Lean Six Sigma).
Provide technical support during equipment installations upgrades and maintenance activities.
Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to ensure compliance with all safety and operational standards.
Assist manufacturing engineers with capital equipment procurement commissioning and validation projects.
Maintain accurate records of tests calibrations and process performance.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology Industrial Technology or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2 years of experience in a manufacturing or production support role preferably in heavy industry (metal fabrication machining forging or casting).
Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with industrial equipment and manufacturing processes.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings blueprints and schematics.
Proficiency with measuring instruments (calipers micrometers) and data acquisition tools.
Experience with ERP systems CAD/CAM software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
Strong problem-solving analytical and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Work Environment:
May require standing or sitting for extended periods walking throughout the facility and lifting up to 50 lbs as needed.
Exposure to elements such as heat cold noise dust odors and fumes.
Work primarily performed inside the production and office areas with occasional outdoor tasks or inspections as required.
