Payroll Specialist & Bookkeeper

Location: Remote
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist & Bookkeeper to manage end-to-end payroll processing and day-to-day accounting operations. This role ensures payroll compliance maintains accurate financial records and supports monthly financial reporting using Zoho Books and QuickBooks.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Administration

  • Process weekly biweekly and monthly payroll for salaried and hourly employees

  • Calculate wages bonuses overtime and deductions

  • Manage payroll tax filings W-2s 1099s and reconciliations

  • Ensure compliance with federal state and local regulations

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and respond to employee inquiries

Bookkeeping & Financial Management

  • Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)

  • Reconcile bank credit card and vendor accounts

  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and proper transaction coding

  • Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L balance sheet cash flow)

  • Support budgeting forecasting and expense tracking

Systems & Reporting

  • Manage invoicing billing automations and reporting in Zoho Books

  • Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks (Online/Desktop)

  • Generate financial statements and custom accounting reports

  • Conduct monthly and quarterly accounting reviews

  • Assist with audit preparation and ensure GAAP compliance

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (preferred)

  • 2 5 years of payroll and bookkeeping experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with Zoho Books and QuickBooks

  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables VLOOKUP formulas)

  • Solid knowledge of payroll taxes labor laws and financial reporting

  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
