Job Summary
Job Summary Senior Data Governance Specialist
- Establish and mature the enterprise data governance (DG) framework to ensure trustworthy compliant and secure data aligned with business strategy.
- Develop and maintain enterprise DG strategy policies standards and scalable operating models (centralized federated hybrid).
- Lead the development of data governance KPIs maturity assessments and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Define enterprise data quality (DQ) dimensions rules controls and remediation workflows.
- Drive identification and governance of Critical Data Elements organization-wide.
- Lead enterprise adoption of metadata standards and quality expectations.
- Oversee Atlan catalog governance including domains glossary lineage personas and policies.
- Partner with architecture and engineering teams to expand automated and governed manual data lineage.
- Establish and operationalize Data Owner Steward and Custodian roles and accountability models.
- Lead and facilitate the Data Governance Council and steward communities ensuring alignment on definitions usage and controls.
- Ensure compliance with internal DG policies and external regulations (e.g. GDPR CCPA SOX HIPAA).
- Collaborate with Legal Security and Compliance teams to define and maintain privacy access retention and risk controls.
- Oversee issue triage root cause analysis (RCA) and remediation with clear business and technical ownership.
- Provide cross-functional leadership across metadata lineage DQ access governance MDM compliance and change management.
- Communicate complex data governance concepts clearly to senior business partners and technical stakeholders.
Must Haves:
- 7 10 years of relevant experience in data governance data management analytics engineering or data quality.
- Deep expertise in metadata master data data quality lineage and regulatory compliance.
- Hands-on experience with Atlan and Monte Carlo or comparable data governance platforms.
- Strong SQL and business intelligence (BI) background; experience integrating catalog/observability data into dashboards.
- Proven ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams including business engineering Legal Security and Compliance stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex data concepts for diverse audiences.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Data Management MIS or related field.
Work Setup:
- Location: Downtown Houston TX (onsite Monday Thursday remote Fridays).
- Contract: 1 year with potential to extend.
