Associate Attorney - Insurance Defense Litigation

About the Role:

Our client is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney (1 5 years of experience) to join their Roanoke office. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of litigation matters while gaining significant hands-on experience in case strategy discovery and trial preparation.

The role is ideal for an attorney who is eager to take ownership of cases develop courtroom experience early in their career and work alongside experienced litigators in a supportive team-oriented environment.

You will play an active role in all phases of litigation-from case assessment and discovery through motion practice and trial preparation-while managing a dynamic docket of matters across multiple areas of defense litigation.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage 30 40 active litigation files including discovery depositions motion practice and client reporting.
Handle matters involving personal injury premises liability products liability general liability civil rights and contract claims.
Represent clients in both State and Federal Court proceedings.
Collaborate within a team-based structure alongside attorneys and litigation support staff.
Communicate regularly with clients opposing counsel and insurance claims professionals.
Draft pleadings discovery responses motions and legal memoranda.
Contribute to case strategy trial preparation and litigation planning.

Qualifications:

J.D. from an accredited law school.
Licensed and in good standing in Virginia.
1 5 years of litigation experience (candidates with additional experience will also be considered).
Strong legal research writing and oral advocacy skills.
Excellent organizational and case management abilities with the capacity to manage a busy docket independently.
Insurance defense experience is a plus but not required.
