Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for best-in-class Network Engineers to help deploy and automate one of the worlds largest and complex networks. Our ideal candidate is highly autonomous possesses strong written and verbal communication skills strong project management and time management skills and has a successful track record of designing simple scalable solutions and troubleshooting complex network problems and delivering innovative solutions. The desire and ability to work in a fast paced collaborative environment is essential.

Key job responsibilities
As a Network Engineer working within AWS Infrastructure you will:
- Be responsible for deploying network infrastructure across all of our network fabrics that supports the Amazon Retail Service Kindle Payments and multiple AWS services.
- Deploy scale and automate our network across multiple global datacenters. This includes existing footprints and greenfield locations.
- Create simple repetitive deployment processes that increase both velocity and quality.
- Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.
- Create and implement changes on the network.
- Work closely with our automation teams in defining the tools that allow us to scale at unprecedented volume.
- Building and continuously scale global Internet capacity to always be ahead of customer demand.
- Network and process innovation delivering simple sustainable and scalable solutions that never constrain the business for Internet capacity deployment operations.
- Drive operational excellence projects focused on developing best practices and mechanisms refining existing procedures leading automation projects and metrics to automate repeatable networking tasks.
- Identify through metrics and troubleshoot complex or recurring configuration/deployment issues and effectively engage with internal partner networking teams teams to ensure full resolution

A day in the life
Engineers in the GCNA-CE organization have a wide range of responsibilities: we work with internal partners to develop and implement the next gen platforms along with the tooling ecosystems to support these platforms driving efficiency and scalability through the automation of builds configuration deployment and the scaling of capacity. Because network is one of the largest in the world there is no blue print at our scale allowing our engineers to develop solutions to the complex challenges that we face daily. We encourage durable solutions that look around corners while taking into consideration our customer needs from a cost performance and reliability perspective.

- Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting
- Experience in major internet routing protocols specifically BGP and OSPF
- Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment
- 2 years of industry work in a related environment experience

- Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures
- Experience working with customers to diagnose a problem and work towards resolution
- Experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming
- Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos
