Job Summary
Director of Health Services
(10 month position annually August - June)
The Environmental Charter School has an immediate need for a Director of Health Services.Reporting to the Assistant to the Superintendent for Student Services the Director of Health Services leads health service delivery for the district. They will serve as a consultant to the district executive team collaborate with others to ensure the health and well-being of students and oversee the nursing staff. Candidates should be energetic and progressive minded with a willingness to work collaboratively with the school community.

OVERVIEW
The Director of Health Services (DHS) is responsible for overseeing the delivery of health services to the district and for ensuring compliance with federal state and local regulations. They will serve as a resource for school administration and other personnel on health issues that impact the district. The DHS will be responsible to hire assign train evaluate and discipline building based health office nurses.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead and deliver required services to all students according to guidelines set forth by PA State Health Department which include vision screenings hearing screenings growth screenings episodic care and first aid Individual Health Plans (IHPs) and 504 Plans manage and control acute and chronic disease among the student population
- Collaborate with other school disciplines agencies and families to plan and implement health service and health promotion activities.
- Serve as a consultant to collaborate for school wide compliance with state and federally recommended health and safety procedures.
- Serve as a consultant at IEP and 504 Plan meetings for students whose plans include a health component.
- Works closely with the Director of Enrollment & External Affairs to ensure appropriate vaccine requirements for registration of new students
- Maintain health records on all children as stipulated by the school health code including medical exam dental exam immunization records school screening referral results
- Maintains budget supplies and equipment
- Hire supervise and evaluate a team of registered nurses
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree in Nursing
- PA Registered Nurse License
- PA Certified School Nurse (PK-12)
- Five or more years nursing experience including supervisory responsibilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of school health regulations as well as public health and mitigation strategies
- Experience in and understanding of urban education and communities preferred
- Familiarity with charter schools helpful
COMPENSATION and BENEFITS
- Minimum starting salary of $87169 with consideration given for prior relevant experience
