    Supervisor: Director of Student Services

    Primary Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Director of Student Services identify and assist students families and school systems to overcome barriers that interfere with learning through the use of assessment counseling consultation coordination of school and community resources and program development. Utilizes knowledge of human behavior social cultural and community influences to help create a positive learning climate. Functions as a social service professional on the multi-disciplinary teams and provides case management services. Conforms to the standards established by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) code of ethics.

    Qualifications/Experience: A Masters of Social Work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

    Terms of Employment: Employed for 188 days per school year with salary and benefits to be set by the Superintendent and Board of Education.

    Essential Functions:
    Conducts assessments to determine the social emotional behavioral needs of students in order to provide effective intervention strategies
    Serves on multidisciplinary teams to address needs of students.
    Provides consultation to administrators and teachers on broad areas of social services
    Assists administrators with issues relative to IDEA 504 Safe Schools Missouri Division of Family Services and Family Courts
    Confers with parents concerning educational services/placements and assists them at multidisciplinary conferences
    Provides crisis intervention services
    Provides direct short term and long-term case work services to students and parents
    Serves as liaison between schools families and community agencies
    Provides input as requested into district-wide and departmental policy and planning decisions
    Carries out other duties as assigned
