The Opportunity:
The Prototyping Workshop supports the various Mattel Building Set departments in product development as well as in the creation of mock-ups used to promote different toy lines.
What Your Impact Will Be:
Under the supervision of the Team Leader the Model Maker is responsible for creating reproducing or modifying physical models based on validation models preliminary plans or sketches provided by the Design Department. These mock-ups must accurately represent the dimensions colors and final appearance of the products to be manufactured providing a tangible representation of toys in development.
Prototypes are created using a variety of materials such as production blocks 3D-printed parts foam styrene resin and others. The Model Maker must be proficient in a wide range of techniques including spray and hand painting construction (blocks) finishing and sanding sculpting thermoforming molding and more. The role also involves working with various types of machinery.
