Job Summary

You will take on an interim accounting leadership role during a defined transition period. The work is already in progress and the focus is on stabilizing operations taking ownership of core accounting activities and supporting the buildout of an inhouse accounting function.

In addition to handson accounting responsibilities the role includes acting as a key counterpart to local finance leadership supporting decisionmaking and helping establish clear ways of working for the accounting team.

You will work closely with local management and coordinate with overseas stakeholders ensuring accounting reporting and governance requirements are met while maintaining continuity during the transition period.

This role requires regular inperson collaboration with the local team. Candidates must be based locally.

ProjectOverview:

The organization is in a transition phase following changes to its finance leadership structure and the decision to bring previously outsourced accounting activities inhouse.

Core accounting processes are currently supported externally and the priority of this engagement is to take ownership of those processes stabilize daytoday operations and define a sustainable futurestate accounting setup.

The interim role is intended to ensure continuity of accounting leadership reduce operational risk and support the development of a permanent accounting team while a longterm hire is being recruited.

The engagement is structured as an independent subcontractor role for a fixed initial period.

Salary: 8000 - 10000 JPY/Hour

Scope of Services

The interim role provides handson accounting leadership and operational coverage. The scope includes:

  • Taking lead responsibility for daytoday accounting operations including transaction processing and statutory reporting
  • Managing monthly close activities including review issue resolution and reporting quality control
  • Overseeing cash and treasury activities including cash flow monitoring and banking coordination
  • Managing tax accounting and coordination with internal and external tax stakeholders
  • Establishing and documenting accounting processes controls and workflows to support insourcing
  • Supporting internal and external audit activities
  • Acting as the primary accounting counterpart to local finance leadership
  • Coordinating with overseas finance teams and shared service providers during the transition
  • Supporting the development coaching and onboarding of accounting team members
  • Ensuring appropriate financial governance and internal controls are in place
  • Handling adhoc accounting and finance matters as required during the transition

Qualifications

  • Experience in a senior accounting or controllerlevel role including interim or transition assignments
  • Strong handson background in financial accounting monthly close and statutory reporting
  • Experience operating cash management treasury processes and tax accounting activities
  • Ability to take ownership of accounting operations in a changing or unclear environment
  • Experience documenting and improving accounting processes and controls
  • Ability to work closely with senior stakeholders while remaining operationally handson
  • Nativelevel Japanese and businesslevel English both written and verbal
  • Professional accounting qualification or equivalent practical experience preferred
