About the Team and Role:

We are looking to hire a Data Scientist to partner closely with the eBay Advertising product team. As a critical member of the Advertising Product Insights team this role will have the unique opportunity to influence decision making of the Ads Product roadmap with their insights and thought leadership.

With a vision to drive transformative change in the customer experience and result in significant business growth we mine the largest datasets in the world of e-Commerce and use best in class analytic and big data techniques to extract impactful insights. We achieve this by partnering closely with our advertising product and engineering teams and find opportunities to shape the product roadmaps.

Requirements:

• 5years of experience in analytics/data science

• Require a minimum of Masters degree in Statistics Mathematics Computer Science Data Science Economics Business Administration or Business Analytics

• You have experience in building econometric models and have in-depth understanding of demand and supply dynamics in a marketplace

• You would have to strike a balance between critical thinking and actual hands-on analyses using tools & packages such as SQL R Python Tableau etc.

• You possess super deep technical skills to turn big data in Hadoop into practical insights. At the same time you also have the ability to see the big picture and connect the dots to evaluate how the insights impact eBays ecosystem

• Proactive collaboration and effective communication are essential

• In addition to delivering insights on existing Product & Tech initiatives you will come up with innovative product growth opportunities based on insights and build momentum through influence

Additionally the following background and experience is preferred:

• Proven track record of turning insights into product growth opportunities in prior roles with increasing scope and responsibilities

• Ability to communicate complex analyses and insights effectively in simple terms

• Good experience with both descriptive and inferential statistics ability to build basic prototype models

• Experience in a leading technology company

• Background in ecommerce product experience

• Experience with advertising pricing mechanism is preferred

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including location skills and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits (including RRSP eligibility various paid time off benefits such as PTO and parental leave).
