Position Summary:
The Technical Assistant Research is responsible for assisting with the operations of the Research Laboratory Services Glasswashing and Sterilization Facilities. The primary responsibilities include: collecting used glassware and lab coats from multiple UHN Research locations preparing and washing glassware delivering sterilized glassware and clean lab coats to multiple UHN Research locations performing cross-functional and other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned and/or required.
Duties:
- Maintaining and cleaning facility and equipment: Assists with equipment cleaning and maintenance scheduling; Ensures all lab equipment cleaning is performed on a routine basis; Helps organizing facility cleanings and environmental testing; Maintains proper documentation.
- Organizing glassware and labcoat inventory: Assists with materials receipt process; Replenishes lab supplies for all rooms as required; Assists with documentation updates;
- Responsible for routine pickup and delivery of glassware and labcoats to locations throughout UHN buildings daily;
- Prepare glassware and items for washing and sterilization loading/unloading and operating washing units loading/unloading and operating autoclaves daily;
- Performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned or requested.
- Works in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations reporting hazards deficiencies and contraventions of the Act in a timely manner.
Qualifications :
- Completion of high school or recognized equivalent required.
- Practical and related experience and/or on-the-job training required.
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards.
- Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi-task.
- Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy.
- Effective organizational interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of applicable legislative UHN and/or departmental policies.
- Client service oriented with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand.
