Job Summary

The Academy of the Holy Names is an independent Catholic coeducational elementary school and a college preparatory high school for young women sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary.

The Assistant Principal ofAcademic Excellencereports to the Lower School Principal and assists in the daily operation and fulfillment of the strategic direction of the schools academic programs. This role focuses on curriculum development instructional leadership faculty support and student learning ensuring a rigorous and engaging academic experience that aligns with Catholic values.

Key Qualifications
1. Enthusiastic practicing Catholic who is a Christ-centered servant leader who embraces models and champions Catholic education and will also be eager to learn embody and promote the charism of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary.
2. Advanced degree in an education-related field; Mastersin Curriculum and Instruction preferred
3. A minimum of five years of instructional experience at the lower school level (grades PK-4th)
Preferred Qualifications
1. At least three years of administrative leadership experience in a private and/or Catholic school
2. Experience with Responsive Classroom and/or other contemporary approaches to teaching and school discipline

Classification: 12-month full-time exempt.

Reports to: Lower School Principal

Responsibilities:
Faith and Mission Integration
1. Promotes the essential characteristics and fundamental values of a Catholic school in the spirit of the SNJM Sisters. Advances a spirit conducive to prayer and study across the school community.
2. Encourage and support faculty as they incorporate Catholic teachings and moral development into daily instruction.
3. Work in coordination with Mission and Ministry to support prayer liturgies and faith-based activities that help students grow in knowledge and love of Christ.
4. Assumes responsibilities delegated by the Lower School Principal.

Academic Leadership and Curriculum Development
1. Oversee the development implementation and evaluation of the lower school curriculum to ensure alignment with Catholic teachings state standards and best educational practices.
2. Works in coordination with Middle School and High School counterparts for vertical alignment.
3. Awareness of the impact of AI on teaching and learning.
4. Support teachers in differentiated instruction data-driven decision-making and student-centered learning strategies. Work with grade level and electives teachers on curriculum development and implementation.
5. Lead professional development initiatives that enhance instructional excellence and promote continuous faculty growth.
6. Evaluate academic programs and student performance data to ensure high achievement and growth across all subject areas.
7. Recommends to the Principal policies on grading curriculum professional development progress monitoring and other academic matters.
8. Leads the Lower School Team Leaders and Grade Level Leaders.

Faculty Support and Instructional Coaching
1. Provide mentorship coaching and professional guidance to teachers to foster excellence in teaching and learning.
2. Help with the implementation of a new growth and evaluation system to include conducting classroom observations to provide constructive feedback and to support instructional improvement.
3. Encourage innovative teaching strategies including the integration of technology project-based learning and faith-based instruction.
4. Assist with the Summer Institute for Faculty in conjunction with middle and high school to support teacher development.
5. Collaborate with teachers to create a positive faith-filled and academically enriching classroom environment.
6. Supports in conjunction with the Lower School Principal faculty and staff in their goal setting and work.
7. Helps to organize and support the orientation of new faculty and the implementation of the schools induction program with the support of theLower School Administrative team and HR.
8. Assists Lower School Principal in developing the master schedule.

Student Learning and Success
1. Ensure a rigorous yet supportive learning experience that meets the needs of diverse learners.
2. Support standardized testing coordination and use data analysis to drive instructional decisions.

School Leadership and Community Engagement
1. Work closely with the principal faculty parents and students to foster a collaborative mission-driven school culture.
2. Serve as a liaison between administration and faculty ensuring open communication and a shared vision for academic success.
3. Participate in parent meetings curriculum nights and school-wide initiatives that strengthen the home-school partnership.
4. Support a safe respectful and disciplined learning environment aligned with Catholic values and school policies.
