A vacancy has arisen for a Flight Lieutenant (Aircrew Pilot (AM) (ISR) (RW) or (CA)) to serve as Qualified Flying Instructor at 6 FTS UBAS RAF Cosford on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 07 September 2026 (or earlier/later subject to candidate status).
Responsibilities include.
Delivery of air and ground instruction for ab-initio aircrew as well as conversion and currency training for experienced aircrew on the you will be working as a member of a small team and be required to undertake a range of secondary duties associated with the supervision of flying and the management of the Squadron including line management of in addition to your duties with the UAS but within the terms and conditions of FTRS(LC) you will be required to carry out those duties associated with a commissioned officer of your rank. Specifically you will be required to:
- Act as Deputy Officer Commanding UBAS when required.
- Deliver flying trainingto UAS studentsin accordance with the current6 FTSsyllabus:The working week can change to any 5-day period subject to 2 weeks notice of change and will include occasional weekend working.
- Attend squadron Training Nights (1900-2130) held weekly during university term currently Tuesday evenings at RAF Cosford or affiliated universities.
- Deliver monitoring of student flying progress and administration of student flying records and documentation.
- Deliver monitoring of staff flying and administration of staff currencies instructor checks Standards and CFS Exam Wg visits.
- Deliver supervision of the flying programme as Duty Pilot when directed.
- Deliversupport to the AEF flying task when directed by OC UAS.
- Deliver supervision of the AEF flying task
- Deliver change as directed by 6FTS or OC UAS.
- Support UAS ground training activities as directed by OC UAS in support of the ground training includes delivery and administration of the Modular Initial Officer Training syllabus.
