Subject to formal establishment a vacancy may arise for a Wg Cdr (Any Profession) to serve as SO1 Air Doctrine 1b at the Air & Space Warfare Centre (ASWC) RAF Waddington on Additional Duties Commitment (180) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of being not before 2 November 2026 (or later subject to candidate status and formal establishment).
Based within the ASWC Headquarters this new role will augment the established ASWC Doctrine Team and will primarily act as the ASWC (and RAF) liaison officer to the NATO Joint Air Power Competence Centre (JAPCC) Kalkar Germany. The post holder will also help coordinate RAF input into the Integrated Warfare Centres (IWC) and other single-Services doctrine development programmes. Specific responsibilities will include the following:
- Act as a senior RAF (and UK) representative at the NATO JAPCC on behalf of the Comdt ASWC.
- Identify and coordinate the delivery of collaborative work-strand opportunities between the ASWC and JAPCC.
- In coordination with the ASWC Doctrine Team support the development of NATO national (joint) and single-Service doctrine.
- Provide support to broader UK air power development in conjunction with Air Staffs Director Defence Studies (RAF) and the IWC.
- Contribute to and if required lead ASWC Integrated Mission Support tasks associated with NATO First ambition and broader Dev Div outputs.
