Job Summary
Job Title: Systems Engineer II (GitHub Administrator)
Location: Mountain View CA 94041 (Onsite)
Job Type: Contractor (Pay-as-you-go)

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and security-focused GitHub Administrator to manage and optimize the GitHub environment across the organization.
This role will own repository governance access controls automation compliance enforcement and developer enablement within GitHub. The ideal candidate combines strong Git expertise security best practices and a passion for improving developer workflows.
Key Responsibilities
GitHub Administration & Governance
Manage organization settings repositories teams and permissions within GitHub Enterprise/Cloud.
Design and maintain branching strategies and repository standards.
Implement and enforce access control policies (RBAC).
Manage repository lifecycle including creation archiving and deletion.
Security & Compliance
Configure and monitor GitHub security features such as Dependabot secret scanning and code scanning.
Enforce branch protection rules and required reviews.
Implement SSO SCIM provisioning and integration with identity providers.
Participate in periodic access audits and compliance reporting.
Ensure adherence to internal security and regulatory standards.
Developer Enablement & Support
Provide guidance on Git workflows and best practices.
Create documentation and training materials.
Support developers with repository and workflow issues.
Drive improvements to developer productivity.
Monitoring & Reporting
Track repository usage workflow performance and security metrics.
Generate reports on code quality vulnerabilities and activity trends.
Required Qualifications
3 years of experience administering GitHub (Enterprise Cloud or Server).
Strong understanding of Git version control principles.
Experience with GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with SSO SCIM and identity management integrations.
Knowledge of secure coding and DevSecOps practices.
Experience with scripting (PowerShell Bash or Python).
Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in regulated environments (SOC 2 ISO 27001 HIPAA etc.).
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
API integration experience using GitHub REST or GraphQL APIs.
Background in DevOps or platform engineering.
GitHub certifications (e.g. GitHub Admin GitHub Actions).
