About the Role
The Religious Studies Teacher will deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable) encouraging students to explore a range of religions philosophies and ethical perspectives. The role will support students in developing analytical skills empathy and an appreciation for diverse beliefs and worldviews.
Working closely with the Head of Department and the wider teaching team you will contribute to curriculum development enrichment opportunities and whole-school literacy initiatives ensuring students achieve their full academic potential.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality Religious Studies lessons that engage and challenge students of all abilities
Teach Religious Studies across KS3KS4 (KS5 desirable)
Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinations and assessment objectives
Differentiate learning to support SEND EAL and high-attaining pupils
Use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress and inform teaching
Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement in line with school policy
Contribute to curriculum planning departmental meetings and moderation processes
Support extracurricular activities such as debate clubs philosophy discussions or cultural awareness events
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress
Uphold safeguarding equality and school policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching Religious Studies within a secondary school setting
Strong subject knowledge of world religions ethics and philosophy
Excellent classroom management and behaviour strategies
Ability to motivate challenge and inspire learners
Skilled in using assessment data to raise attainment
Strong communication and organisational skills
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Legal right to work in the UK
