Job Summary
A prestigious and academically ambitious independent school in Winchester is seeking an exceptional Head of Design & Technology to lead and further develop its thriving department from April.
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced DT specialist who is passionate about innovation creativity and delivering high-quality practical education.
The Role
As Head of Design & Technology you will take strategic responsibility for the leadership and development of the DT department across KS3 & KS4 with strong KS5 provision depending on specialism such as Product Design Engineering or Resistant Materials.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the vision and direction of Design & Technology across the school
Driving high standards of teaching learning and assessment
Overseeing curriculum planning and departmental development
Monitoring student progress and implementing strategies to raise attainment
Managing and supporting departmental staff
Ensuring high standards of health & safety within workshops and practical spaces
Promoting enrichment opportunities including competitions exhibitions and STEM initiatives
You will maintain a teaching timetable and model outstanding classroom practice.

The Ideal Candidate
Qualified Teacher with QTS (or equivalent)
Strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology
Experience teaching to KS4 (KS5 desirable)
Proven leadership experience or readiness to step into a Head of Department role
Commitment to innovation creativity and high standards
