Job Title: Pharmacy Technician (Entry Level)
Location: Onsite Colorado (Multiple Locations)
Status: Regular / Full-Time
Travel: 100% (Mobile/Float Pool)
Role Summary
Working under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist or Pharmacy Supervisor you will perform essential technical procedures to support the delivery of high-quality pharmacy services. Your mission is to make patient needs the primary focusbuilding rapport resolving problems quickly and ensuring every interaction is rooted in safety and care.
Essential Responsibilities
Prescription Processing & Safety
- Verification: Review original prescription forms and patient IDs to verify refill authorizations; coordinate with medical office personnel as needed.
- Labeling: Accurately type prescription labels including patient name physician medication strength and usage instructions.
- Filing: Select prescribed medications count or pour dosages into appropriate containers and prepare orders for final Pharmacist approval.
- Safety Standards: Strictly adhere to quality safety and emergency procedures including the consistent use of two patient identifiers and procedural time-outs.
Inventory & Financial Management
- Inventory Control: Maintain prescription inventories at established levels; conduct periodic audits and notify supervisors of reordering needs.
- Revenue Reconciliation: Balance daily cash check and credit card transactions. Prepare daily cash reports and bank deposits.
- Merchandising: Restock shelves and maintain a clean organized work environment.
Leadership & Coordination
- Workflow Oversight: Assist the supervisor in coordinating Pharmacy Clerks providing guidance to ensure effective service based on patient volume.
- Problem Solving: Help resolve daily operational hurdles and monitor cashiering functions for security and control.
Qualifications
Experience (Meet at least ONE of the following):
- Minimum one (1) year of Pharmacy Technician work experience.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Kaiser Colorado Pharmacy Clerk.
- Completion of a pharmacy technician training program (minimum 5 months) including a community practice rotation.
- Certification by a nationally recognized certification board.
Must-haves- Pharmacy Tech Certification (Colorado) OR Provisional Pharmacy Tech Certification (Colorado)
Less Common Requirements- Drug Screen Background Screen Health Assessment Orientation - 2 weeks
Education & Licensure
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- License: Active Pharmacy Technician Certification (Colorado) OR Provisional Pharmacy Technician Certification (Colorado).
Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Ability to build rapport and cooperative relationships with patients.
- Basic math skills for calculating prescription costs and balancing revenue.
