Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Rotating holidays
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to support hospital pharmacy operations. This role involves assisting pharmacists with medication preparation distribution inventory management and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while maintaining high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
Review and process medication orders for patient care units
Prepare package and distribute medications accurately and efficiently
Maintain medication inventory including ordering stocking and monitoring expiration dates
Process medication returns and assist with billing functions
Pre-package and label bulk medications into unit-dose containers
Answer and route phone calls appropriately directing clinical inquiries to the pharmacist
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department
Follow departmental policies safety protocols and infection control standards
Additional Responsibilities:
Order medications from suppliers and manage stock levels
Prepare parenteral (IV) medications and assist with compounding tasks
Support medication reconciliation processes and update MAR as needed
Assist in preparation of chemotherapy medications and dosage calculations (as applicable)
Deliver medications including controlled substances (Schedule IIV) using automated dispensing systems
PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification or equivalent required
Minimum 1 year of recent Pharmacy Technician experience (within the past 3 years); 3 years preferred
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to read write and communicate effectively in English
