Job Responsibilities:
- Update maintain and oversee the implementation of the Environmental Management plan (EMP) across all Dufferin Construction operations
- Conduct periodic environmental reviews of project sites to ensure compliance with environmental obligations including required documentation and field execution
- Fulfill the environmental coordinator role as required on designated project contracts
- Investigate and report environmental incidents supporting site teams in remediation and corrective actions plans
- Develop and deliver training & documentation address environmental knowledge gaps
- Assist estimators in evaluating environmental risks obligations and scope during tender
- Support site teams in developing project specific environmental plans
- Ensure compliance with Ontario Regulation 406/19 excess & soil management
- Support Materials Soil Management team related to compliance and quality control related to excess soil from Dufferin Construction projects
- Submit environmental applications and manage online regulatory accounts such as:
- EASR PPTW RPRA Soil and RPRA Hazardous waste
- Maintain accurate data records of environmental issues and actions
- Support both internal and external environmental reporting requirements including reporting requirements for Dufferin Construction Aggregates Concrete and Asphalt businesses
- Support Dufferin Management in community engagement activities
- Support Dufferin Management to cascade Corporate Initiatives related to Environment and Sustainability (toolbox training etc.)
- Collaborate with SPIE department and estimation team for customer led sustainability questionnaires
- Stay current with regulatory and industry trends to proactively adapt policies and procedures
Requirements:
- Post secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering and/or Environmental Studies and/or 3 years of experience within a similar role.
- Good understanding of construction operations and site activities with the ability to identify potential environmental risks.
- Excellent Computer skills Excel PowerPoint Word
- Excellent communication with strong technical writing skills.
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and professional discretion
- Excellent organizational planning skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Ability to develop and deliver environmental training toolbox talks and site orientations as required.
- Ability to influence and work within a matrixed organization
- Designation as a Qualified Person under Ontario Regulation 406/19 (On Site and Excess Soil Management) considered an asset.
- Must have a valid G drivers license.
- Willingness to travel to project locations across Ontario based on operational requirements.
