Footwear Design Intern

About the Role

The Footwear Design Interns primary responsibility is to learn the business while helping the footwear team in their daily task of creating product that is innovative and trend relevant while continuing to evolve iconic styles that meet the needs of the Ariat consumers.

Youll Make a Difference By

• Working closely with the design team with color/ trend forecasting and design drawings both by hand and computer.
• Helping the team prepare for presentations. This may include trend and competitor analysis graphic design work while helping create cad drawings in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop based on the design teams sketches.
• Taking hand drawings to presentation ready renderings efficiently.
• Helping in updating Ariat Footwear Branding Guidelines. These guidelines help ensure that product is consistent in how branding looks across categories.
• Learning the basic structure and demands of footwear design.
• Continuing or learning about footwear design and manufacturing. Be curious in how footwear comes together and be an active participant in our process.
• Starting to learn all the parts of shoe construction while also becoming familiar with outsole engineering through technical blueprints and 3D models.
• Becoming familiar with using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop Procreate 3D Vizcom while using these tools to create renderings and technical drawings or tech packs.
• Working with the Design team to come up with an internship goal. What would you (the intern) hope to come away with at the end of the internship It could include a deeper understanding of outsole design or maybe its a specific design they would like to bring to fruition through renderings 3D modeling or actual physical sampling.
• Ultimately we would hope that our intern comes away with a deeper understanding of the footwear industry what it takes to be a footwear designer an excitement and passion for the industry while have a great time being a part of the Ariat Footwear Design Team.

About You

• Pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelors degree.
• Ability to multitask and adjust to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Possesses and executes exceptional organizational and communication skills.

• Works within a collaborative Team Environment.
• Maintains Exceptional Interpersonal skills.

The salary rate for this position is $20.00 per hour.

The salary is determined by the education experience knowledge skills and abilities of the applicant internal equity and alignment with market data for geographic locations. Ariat in good faith believes that this posted compensation range is accurate for this role at this location at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
