About the Opportunity
An established structural engineering firm in Southeast Florida is seeking a qualified Structural Inspector to support building restoration and threshold inspection projects. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of structural restoration and new construction projects in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience in structural inspections knowledge of the Florida Building Code and strong technical and communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet at least one of the following:
Graduation from a four-year engineering program in Civil Structural or Architectural Engineering;
Professional degree in Architecture;
Registration as a Building Inspector or General Contractor;
Four (4) years of Threshold Building inspection training on non-threshold buildings performed under the supervision of a Special Inspector who was in responsible charge of the trainees work.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering
EIT certification
PE RA BN CGC or Building Inspector license
Experience in concrete restoration projects
Experience with Threshold Building inspections
Key Responsibilities
Perform special inspections on restoration and new construction projects
Conduct inspections of swing stages and scaffolding (training provided as needed)
Assist during the Construction Administration phase including:
Review of shop drawings
Submittals
RFIs
Field observations
Attend project meetings with clients and design professionals
Manage multiple projects and ensure timely execution
Prepare clear and detailed inspection reports
Requirements
Required Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of the Florida Building Code (FBC)
Familiarity with structural standards such as ASCE AISC and ACI
Strong technical writing and communication skills
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Comfortable working in field conditions including heights and outdoor environments
