Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Job Description
Position Summary
The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) provides high-quality mental health counseling services to individuals couples families and/or groups. The LPC is responsible for conducting assessments developing treatment plans delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. This role requires strong clinical judgment ethical practice and a commitment to supporting clients in achieving emotional wellness and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and establish appropriate diagnoses
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
Provide individual group couples and/or family therapy
Utilize evidence-based treatment modalities (e.g. CBT solution-focused therapy trauma-informed care)
Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency state and insurance guidelines
Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and referral sources
Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards and state regulations
Participate in supervision case consultations and professional development activities
Qualifications
Active state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
Masters degree in Counseling or a related mental health field
Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnosis and treatment planning
Strong interpersonal organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage caseload effectively and maintain documentation standards
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) preferred
Preferred Skills
Experience working with diverse populations
Training in trauma-informed care
Bilingual abilities (if applicable)
Crisis intervention experience
Work Environment
This position may be based in a private practice outpatient clinic community mental health setting. Work may include in-person and/or telehealth services.
