The Halton District School Board (HDSB) is comprised of over 10000 staff who serve more than 66000 students in more than 100 schools in the communities of Burlington Halton Hills Milton and Oakville. We are seeking innovative collaborative and inclusive Secondary Occasional Teachers. Once hired to the occasional roster our Secondary Occasional Teachers can immediately apply to long-term occasional assignments.

Successful applicants hired to the secondary occasional roster can immediately apply to long-term occasional assignments so long as they are actively registered and hold an Ontario College of Teachers certification number

Hourly Rate: Daily certified rate of pay $287.37 (includes 4% vacation pay)

Location: Halton Region (Acton Georgetown Milton Burlington & Oakville)

Work Schedule: 10 months/year as required

Requirements:

  • Candidates must be registered (or eligible to register) and in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
  • New graduates of April May June July and August 2026 with TCQR are eligible to apply!
  • Secondary Teachers must hold qualifications in both Intermediate and Senior divisions AND at least two different Senior teachable subjects
  • Please Note: Both types and combinations of qualifications will be reviewed and considered in our hiring process based on the needs of the secondary panel within the HDSB.

  • Senior Business Studies
  • In accordance with the OSSTF Occasional Teachers Collective Agreement teachers must work a minimum of 15 full days each school year to remain on the Secondary Occasional List.

Conditions of Employment:

All applicants who are offered a position with the HDSB are required to provide the Board with the following:

  • Criminal Background Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (dated within six months)

  • Valid OCT Certificate of Qualification (in good standing) Or TCQR
