Through the development and delivery of programs related to international partnerships student mobility and international field schools and through the provision of specialized student supports dedicated to the improvement of the international undergraduate student experience our focus is to ensure Mount Royal students can have the opportunity to enrich their education and expand their understanding of the world.
About the Role
This casual position is responsible for supporting students in the Customized English Language and Culture program during scheduled on-campus activities and local outings. The employee will work closely with the EAL Instructor and administrative team to plan coordinate and lead these events.
Responsibilities
Student Activity Coordination and Support: 75%:
- Support with planning and coordinating rooms supplies and/or food services and transportation for on and off-campus program activities.
- Maintain records and document activities and assist with gathering feedback on program events.
- Participate in evaluation and debriefs on the activities with the instructor and administration.
Communication: 15%:
- Use language and cross-cultural skills appropriately to support students as required. Promotethe use of English while assisting students with weaker language skills with understanding as needed.
Incidental Administrative Support: 10%
- Provide administrative support for the English Language Program as required.
- Assist with placement exam process.
Qualifications
- Two-Year Diploma from a University or Equivalent
- Familiarity with post-secondary systems international and ELL education programming academic programs services and culture.
- Excellent intercultural communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative to be a self-starter with excellent team player and interpersonal skills together with a strong sense of professionalism and customer service.
- Direct experience working with students.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision on a daily basis.
- Problem-solving with diplomacy and tact.
- Experience learning an additional language the ability to communicate in another language or time spent living in a non-English speaking country is an asset.
Salary: $25.80/per hour
