Ko tōu ake mahi - What youll do
As the Manager NZ Medical Assistance Team (NZMAT) you will guide a highly skilled team that provides vital medical support during emergencies deployments and highpressure situations. This is an opportunity to combine operational leadership people development and strategic influence in a role where your work directly supports national resilience and public health outcomes.
Provide daytoday leadership for NZMAT ensuring effective delivery of clinical and nonclinical assistance operational support and policy advice.
Lead team capability performance and development fostering a collaborative highperforming culture across NZMAT and wider Ministry partnerships.
Oversee core operations and emergency response offering confident leadership during deployments and maintaining readiness for highpressure situations.
Drive strategic initiatives and major work programmes ensuring alignment with Ministry and Government priorities strong planning and clear reporting on outcomes.
Strengthen operational readiness and continuous improvement ensuring NZMAT systems processes and training remain fitforpurpose and deploymentready at all times.
Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What youll bring
A relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive experience in health emergency management or a related field.
A solid understanding of emergency management and health system operations with the ability to apply recognised planning tools and methodologies.
Strong operational leadership capability confident in managing both routine activities and highpressure emergency response situations.
Proven strategic planning and delivery experience overseeing complex projects and programmes aligned to Ministry and Government priorities.
A proactive solutionsfocused approach to risk able to identify emerging issues early and implement effective mitigation strategies.
Demonstrated ability to lead and grow highperforming teams including talent development succession planning coaching and navigating complexity and change with resilience.
