The Role:
The Welfare Officer will support the health safety and wellbeing of students across the school. This includes supporting first-aid provision responding to student welfare concerns liaising with parents supporting safeguarding documentation and ensuring that all welfare matters are logged accurately. You will be a visible and approachable presence around the school providing calm and reassuring support to students experiencing emotional distress illness or personal difficulties.
A key part of the role involves completing welfare checks supporting vulnerable students liaising with external agencies attending meetings and ensuring that the schools welfare procedures are followed rigorously. You will also help implement pastoral interventions support wellbeing workshops and contribute to programmes that promote positive mental health and emotional resilience.
The Welfare Officer will be responsible for maintaining medical supplies ensuring first-aid kits are stocked managing medical plans supporting students with chronic health conditions and responding calmly to injuries or emergencies. You will be trained in first aid (or the school will provide training if required).
Requirements:
Experience in a welfare pastoral safeguarding or youth work role
Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
Ability to maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding procedures
First Aid qualification (or willingness to complete training)
Confidence working with students aged 1118
Reliability discretion and strong organisational skills
