As the Assistant Director of School Nutrition you will serve as a key leader in advancing the districts school nutrition program by supporting strategic planning ensuring regulatory compliance and strengthening operational systems. This role combines technical expertise program development and educational leadership to manage menu planning oversee nutrition software systems support Farm to School initiatives and enhance staff development. The Assistant Director plays an essential role in ensuring high-quality compliant and engaging school nutrition services that support student health wellness and learning.
Essential Functions
- Design and manage district-wide menu cycles in compliance with USDA meal pattern requirements including NSLP SBP CACFP and SFSP
- Ensure menus meet all nutritional standards including dietary accommodations allergy management and regulatory compliance
- Serve as lead administrator for school nutrition software including system configuration user access troubleshooting and ensuring data integrity for reporting and audits
- Support and advance the districts Farm to School initiatives by building relationships with local producers supporting procurement and promoting local food integration
- Develop and deliver professional development and training programs for school nutrition staff
- Support grant writing efforts and assist in identifying funding opportunities and program sustainability initiatives
- Oversee communication efforts including website content newsletters and outreach to students families and the community
- Support nutrition education initiatives and serve as a liaison between the school nutrition program and educational partners
- Assist with kitchen operations and meal service as needed to ensure continuity of services
- Mentor dietetic interns and support staff development and growth
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Nutrition Dietetics Education Business or related field preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in school nutrition or institutional food service
- Demonstrated experience with menu planning and USDA compliance requirements
- Experience with school nutrition software systems and data management
- Experience with grant writing program development or Farm to School initiatives preferred
- Strong leadership organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and nutrition standards

Compensation is based on addition to great health benefits and paid time off this full-time position is an hourly position paid Bi-Weekly.
