As aSenior Consultant Portfolio - Technical Architect you will lead the design and evolution of Western Unions API platform driving simplification scalability and innovation across business lines.Youllcollaborate with engineering product and business stakeholders to define architectural standards guide implementation and ensure alignment with strategic goals.

You will be working with a team of engineers with a broad range of responsibilities including all aspects of software engineering like requirements understanding and validation solution design detailed design developmenttestingand software configuration management. Build products systems and services that areoptimized wellorganizedand maintainable and havea highimpact on our end users.

Role Responsibilities:

• Strong knowledge of modern architecture patterns (microservices event-driven cloud-native).

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS Azure or GCP) and CI/CD tools.

• Proven experience leading engineering teams with strong interpersonal and people management skills.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make critical decisions under pressure.

• Experience with distributed systems API design and data modeling.

• Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps culture.

• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders.

• Core Java Spring and Spring Boot

• In-depth knowledge ofmicroservicesarchitecture principles and design patterns.

• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

• Experience withbuilding RESTful APIs and event-driven systems.

• Experience with CI/CD tools and practices (e.g. Jenkins GitLab CI).

• Strong understanding of database systems both SQL (e.g. PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB).

• Experience with message brokers and streaming platforms like Apache Kafka.

• API design and integration include REST Soap XML/JSONand Web API.

• Experience in architecting applications in Java and related technologies

• Experience with object-relational mapping (ORM) and model-view-controller (MVC)

• Experience in developing Windows Linux/Unix platforms/Cloud based platforms

• Web and App server experience (Tomcat Apache WebLogic etc.).

• Experience in BASH/SSH scripting.

• Experience withusingthe latestengineering tools (eg.Jenkins JIRA Confluence Git/Perforce).

• (desired) working exposure on Microservices framework and technologies

• Working exposure on Application Security concepts (SSL OAuth etc.)

Role Requirements:

• 12 years of experiencein software architecture and engineering with 4 yearsofarchitecture roles.

• Design andmaintainarchitecture for scalable reliable and secure applications and services.

• Lead architecture reviews proof-of-concepts and design discussions across teams.

• Define and enforce coding standards architectural guidelines and best practices.

• Evaluate and recommend tools frameworks and technologies based on evolving business needs.

• Lead a cross-functional team of developers providing direction support and mentorship.

• Collaborate with Product Managers QA DevOps and UX to ensure smooth delivery.

• Drive engineering excellence through agile practices code reviews and continuous improvement.

• Own end-to-end technical delivery of features and systems from planning through deployment.

• Break down high-level requirements into technical solutions and delegate effectively.

• Identifyand address technical debt and system inefficiencies proactively.

• Ensuretimelydelivery of milestones whilemaintaininghigh quality.
