The Cellular Biologist II will work directly with the Lab Manager Associate Director(s) and an experienced team of cellular biologists specialists computational analysts and Ph.D. level scientists performing a wide range of molecular characterization of cells in droplets in situ and in complex cell culture systems. The Single Cell Biology core offers a great environment to learn cutting-edge technologies and actively participate in providing these assays as a scientific servicing to the JAX research community.
The Cellular Biologist track encompasses the technical staff whose primary responsibilities concern cellular and molecular biology laboratory techniques. These responsibilities are diverse; examples include cell culture establishment and maintenance; biospecimen handling tissue dissociation and nuclei extraction; capturing manipulating amplifying nucleic acid; building NGS libraries; confocal fluorescence and multiplexed microscopy; liquid-handling platform management; protocol development and optimization; data collection and analysis. This role will involve working to interpret data improve laboratory workflows and optimize processes. The Cellular Biologist may be required to work flexible shifts that may include evenings weekends and/or holidays depending on the demands of laboratory operations.
