Summary:
As a Fleet Mechanic for Conwy County Borough Council you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of vehicles and plant equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations Health and Safety requirements and Ministry of Transport Regulations. You will ensure the fleet remains roadworthy and compliant with Department and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) guidelines and the authoritys Operators Licence. This role requires high technical skill the ability to respond to 24-hour emergency breakdowns and a commitment to providing a professional timely service to meet the operational demands of all departments.
Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance servicing and repair of county fleet vehicles plant and equipment.
- Conduct testing and inspections to prepare vehicles for MOT testing
- Assess test and repair Electrical Vehicles (EV) safely within industry standards.
- Attend 24-hour breakdowns and undertake roadside recovery within Conwy County boundaries.
- Maintain workshops and facilities in a clean safe condition complying with Health and Safety legislation.
- Manage stock control systems and ensure local security protocols are followed on operational sites.
Qualification
- Level 3 HGV Qualification: Maintenance Repair Testing and Inspection of Heavy Goods Vehicles.
- Relevant qualifications applicable to the vehicle maintenance environment.
Essentials:
- Minimum of 12 months experience in independent testing and inspection for roadworthiness/MOT on LGVs and HGVs.
- Experience in vehicle recovery and attending road traffic accidents (RTA/RTC).
- Class C or CE driving license.
- Up-to-date periodic CPC and digital tachograph card (or commitment to obtain within 12 months).
