About the Role
Field Interviewers play a key role in collecting confidential survey data that informs critical social research. This role requires empathy clear and transparent verbal communication skills and the ability to be a self-starter. This is a flexible autonomous independent contractor role where you set your own schedule and work at your own pace.
Using a company-provided tablet and software Field Interviewers contact pre-identified participants to conduct surveys via video or in-person interviews. As you collect participant answers youll collaborate with our internal research team to ensure high-quality ethical data collection that helps elevate underserved voices while contributing to the overall success of the research team.
About the Project
Vital Research in partnership with the State of Colorado is seeking experienced Field Interviewers for a statewide project focused on surveying children and their families on their experiences with the Colorado Childrens HCBS Waiver Program. The child waiver program provides services and supports to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as complex health needs and/or life-limiting illnesses. The project will begin with a mandatory virtual training the week of April 20th and will continue through May of 2026 (or until all surveys are completed).
Interviewers will conduct 45-to-60 minute interviews with children and young adults (ages 8-20). During each session interviewers are responsible for building rapport creating a comfortable and respectful environment and administering interviews in accordance with study protocols. Following interviews interviewers will be asked to share observations and provide feedback to Vital Research staff to support continuous improvement and data quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Reach out to families from a provided list and schedule/complete video or in-person surveys with children
- Conduct 1 survey per day or 5 surveys per week using assigned tools and protocols
- Accurately capture participant responses using company-provided tablets and software with close attention to detail and confidentiality
- Maintain professionalism empathy and cultural sensitivity in all interactions
- Communicate regularly with the research team for updates and support
This Role May Be a Great Fit If You:
- Are comfortable building quick rapport with children and their families and helping them feel safe heard and engaged during interactions
- Have experience conducting interviews surveys or working in research settings
- Are comfortable contacting families by phone and conducting in-person and video interviews
- Have experience working with children with disabilities including intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Are detail-oriented and comfortable using tablets or mobile technology
- Enjoy working independently and managing your own schedule
- Have access to a personal vehicle for in-person interviews
Compensation & Flexibility
You have full control over your schedule; we request that you complete a minimum of5 surveys per week. Compensation ispaid per completed survey with rates varying by interview method:
- $100 per completed video (Zoom) interview
- $110 per completed in-person interview depending on travel distance
Training and orientation are provided as follows:
- $50 upon completion of pre-training modules
- $300 upon completion of virtual training
- $50 upon completion of post-training tasks
