Position: Early Careers & Development Advisor - 12-month FTC

Responsible to: Early Careers & Development Manager

Based at: 110 Fetter Lane London EC4A 1AY

Overview

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our busy Early Careers & Development team on a 12-month FTC. As an Advisor you will support the Early Careers & Development Manager with the recruitment and development of the Firms trainee associates with support from a Coordinator. This is an excellent opportunity for an Advisor looking to develop their career.

This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of our recruitment outreach assessment process SQE training onboarding new joiners and various marketing initiatives as well as heavily involved on the HR and development side. This role will also take ownership for the 360 running of our early careers programs (vacation schemes) and Instagram channel with support from the wider team.

We recruit 30 vacation scheme students per year across two programs as well as 15 trainee associates and two solicitor apprentices annually.

Key Duties & Responsibilities Marketing & Attraction

  • Assist the Early Careers Manager in devising and executing a comprehensive attraction strategy to build and develop the Firms reputation and brand amongst perspective students;

  • Take ownership of our Instagram page with support from the wider team. This will involve managing the relationship with our social media agency to create and develop informative and insightful content including arranging and running content capture days and identifying key internal contributors;

  • Plan recruitment networking events presentations and skills sessions (both in person and virtual). This will include coordinating event logistics venue booking and sourcing speakers and attendees;

  • Represent the firm at recruitment events and engage with potential candidates where necessary including university law fairs presentations and skills sessions;

  • Manage relationships with graduate publications / online advertisers;

  • Manage relationships with key contacts at universities to enhance recruitment;

  • Build and maintain relationships with university law societies;

  • Coordinate with the Early Careers & Development Coordinator to organize and run insight days.

Recruitment & Selection

  • Assist with the recruitment selection process including screening applications reviewing video interviews arranging face to face interviews and collating and providing feedback;

  • Oversee and coordinate with the Coordinator on the day-to-day running of the vacation schemes and assessment days;

  • Extend offers to successful candidates including supporting the Coordinator with all offer paperwork

  • Lead on the organization of our two annual vacation schemes with support from the Coordinator including (but not limited to) arranging sessions socials sourcing and training supervisors coordinating assessments and assisting with all onboarding.

Inclusion

  • Support the Manager with organising and running various inclusion initiatives to help the firm attract a diverse cohort of trainees;

  • Assist with the ongoing review of our current training programme to ensure our policies and processes are inclusive;

  • Regularly meet with our Inclusion team and affinity groups to ensure we are building out initiatives to guarantee an inclusive recruitment process and trainee programme

Trainee Development

  • Manage and run the annual trainee induction programme;

  • Manage and coordinate the bi-annual seat rotation process with support from the Coordinator;

  • Oversee and organise ongoing training in partnership with the University of Law as well as our internal PSL lawyers;

  • Take ownership of the trainee associate overseas secondment process including arranging all visas and necessary documentation;

  • Support with the annual qualification process for trainee associates;

  • Support the Early Careers Manager with the continued development and integration of the Solicitor Apprenticeship programme

  • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with trainee associates to discuss their development and escalate any pastoral issues

  • Arrange the annual NQ dinner

General

  • Oversee the Coordinators management of future trainees i.e. law school registrations and socials;

  • Oversee the Coordinators organisation of onboarding all vacation scheme students and new joiners

  • Undertake any project work as and when required.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience of working in an early careers and development role;

  • Experience of working in a professional services environment ideally a law firm;

  • Strong organisational skills;

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy;

  • Excellent grammar and spelling;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels;

  • Friendly and enthusiastic with a flexible and proactive approach;

  • Self-motivated with the ability to juggle several deadlines;

  • Willingness to learn grow and develop;

  • Able to work in a team environment;
