  • Remuneration: Professional Level 5 $88K- $100K (based on experience & contract type) 17% super annual leave loading
  • Location: Sydney New South Wales.

Position Summary

The Research Assistant will provide technical and research support to a multidisciplinary research team within the Department of Molecular Medicine School of Biomedical Sciences at UNSW. Reporting to the Associate Professor the role is responsible for designing and conducting research experiments developing laboratory protocols and workflows and maintaining high-quality iPSC-derived cardiomyocyte samples.

The position involves undertaking independent research support activities including sample characterisation through fluorescence imaging immunofluorescence labelling quality control processes and data collection analysis and reporting. The Research Assistant will also maintain accurate research records and databases support laboratory operations and inventory management and contributes to ethics and grant applications as well as progress and industry reports.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education training and experience in laboratory-based biomedical / biological sciences.
  • Prior experience supporting a research project.
  • Demonstrated experience in cell culture and immunocytochemistry.
  • Advanced time management organizational skills (including good record keeping and management of sample databases) and clear interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to make sound judgements and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and contributing to projects and initiatives.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSWs aims objectives and values in action together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
