Spartan Arena Operator & Field Maintenance Technician

BASIC FUNCTION
Oversee daily building and mechanical systems maintenance/repair work and related projects at Spartan Arena as well as assist in the pro shop and with customer service as needed. Perform athletic field maintenance on campus.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES SPARTAN ARENA:
Perform all of the maintenance and operating requirements of the Spartan Arena and facilities. Keep appropriate maintenance records of all work.
Provide preventative maintenance for building and equipment.
Inspect facilities to identify needed maintenance and repair work.
Follow all applicable work safety and security procedures.
Remain current in all aspects of ice arena and athletic facility management technology and trends in the profession.
Perform all Standard Operating Procedures as set forth by the College.
Assist with Pro Shop business customer service and the like.
Assist with the conversion and set up of the facility according to seasonal usage and event planning of the College.
Maintenance and repairs to Arena Fitness Center and its equipment.
Perform opening and closing procedures for the arena and fitness center.
All Arena duties listed above apply to Arena Fitness Center.
Confer regularly with Operations Manager Spartan Arena Director and other college personnel to plan & coordinate activities exchange information resolve problems and like.
Assist in supervising necessary student workers and interns to assist in operations and maintenance of facility.
Oversee all administrative aspects of the adult mens hockey league.
Perform other duties as assigned.
CAMPUS FIELD MAINTENANCE:
Perform general athletic field maintenance.
Measure and identify athletic field dimensions.
Apply athletic field lines and markings.
Maintain and repair field maintenance equipment.
Assist with summer camps and perform other duties as assigned.
Assist in supervising student workers and interns in maintenance of athletic fields.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISON RECEIVED
General supervision is received from the Spartan Arena Director. Additional supervision is provided by the Spartan Arena Operations Manager and the Senior Associate Athletic Director.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Partial supervision of student workers and interns.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in sports administration recreation facility operations or other appropriate discipline plus two to four years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
Strong and varied technical skills and interest in recreational activities.
Broad base of knowledge and skills related to ice arenas athletic facilities management and other relevant experience.
Knowledge in repair and preventative maintenance of athletic equipment.
Broad base of knowledge and skills related to mechanical and maintenance operations.
Good basic reading writing math administrative and supervisory skills.
Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of College students personnel as well as facilities users and others outside of the college.
Flexible schedule including weekend evening and holiday hours is required.

COMPENSATION:The budgeted compensation for this position is $19.13
