The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine Department of Medicine Division of Nephrology seeks applications from biomedical scientists or physician-scientists to fill faculty position. Rank and tenure status to be determined based on qualifications. Primary responsibility will be to participate in the clinical or research and teaching activities of the Division of Nephrology. Applicants with basic research expertise in acute kidney injury outcomes and epidemiology Vitamin D and kidney disease vascular biology polycystic kidney disease transplant immunology or hypertension will be preferred. Clinical responsibilities may include management of general nephrology end stage renal disease chronic kidney disease polycystic kidney disease and transplant patients. Candidates with MD MD/PhD or PhD degrees are eligible. Physicians must be eligible for licensure by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners and be Board certified or Board eligible in Nephrology. A pre-employment background investigation is performed on candidates selected for employment. Physicians and other clinical faculty candidates who will be employed by the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation ( UAHSF ) or other UAB Medicine entities must successfully complete a pre-employment drug and nicotine screen to be hired.
