About the role:
St. Vincents Hospital is part of St Vincents Health Australia and is a major public teaching hospital trauma centre and a tertiary referral hospital for many clinical areas. St Vincents Hospital is unique in being the NSW heart and lung transplant centre and consequently providing care for
complex patients pre during and post transplantation. Most major surgical specialties are represented with the exceptions of obstetrics and paediatrics. St Vincents coordinates cancer services including state-wide referrals for head and neck cancers and advanced haematological services for bone marrow transplant patients through the adjacent Kinghorn Cancer Centre.
The Department of Anaesthetics seeks applicants for (zero-hours) VMO specialists in anaesthesia to participate in rostered sessions within the operating theatres the perioperative assessment clinic and interventional procedural areas including endoscopy and radiology as required by the Department. We seek specialist anaesthetists with excellent clinical expertise and nontechnical skills who offer wider benefits to the organization through participation in teaching research clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives. It is expected that the successful applicant will have the attributes to be an excellent & effective leader of the multidisciplinary team.

Selection Criteria:
Possess or be eligible to possess specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Fellowship of the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and participation in ANZCA CPD program with commitment to evidence-based practice.
Experience in the practice of anaesthesia perioperative medicine and acute pain management for high-acuity patients (including transplant recipients) having surgical therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
Commitment to regular sessions providing anaesthesia for patients in the Endoscopy Suite service roles including Duty Anaesthetist and ad-hoc operating theatre sessions
Demonstrated strong commitment to supervision and teaching at speciality registrar junior medical officer and undergraduate levels with a comprehensive understanding of ANZCA training requirements & a commitment to completing trainee WBAs and helping trainees prepare for ANZCA
primary & final examinations.
Excellent non-technical skills with demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and promote effective teamwork and patient safety.
Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and quality assurance activities.
Participation in after-hours services for the Department of Anaesthetics.
