Purpose of role:
The roleis responsible forsupporting the financial control and reporting of the Group and its subsidiaries. This involves the oversight and review of monthly management reporting annual statutory accounts production reporting to entity boards and local regulators and the continual evaluation and improvement of financial controls and processes within the finance department.
The role also includes responsibility for the provision of technical support day to day direction and leadership of a team within the wider financial accounting team.
Specific responsibilities:
Team
Management and oversight of direct reports
Provide communication support coaching and mentoring within the finance department
Assistin the co-ordination and planning of work in the department asrequired
Financial Reporting
Review the monthly management accounts for the Groups legal entities ensuring that the general ledger isaccurateand complete and that all analytical reviews and balance sheet reconciliations have beencompletedand review points are addressed
Review local GAAP statutory accounts ensuring compliance with relevant GAAP and regulatory requirements
Liaise with the Groups auditors ensuring the delivery of relevant information to support the Group and subsidiary audits
Review regulatory returns for entitiesensuring compliance with local requirements
Acting as a point of contact for local senior management and presentation of results to subsidiary boards
Ongoing liaison with other teams within Finance including Treasury Tax Group Reporting and Finance Business Partners to support the delivery of information to and from them ina timelyaccurateand efficient manner
Financial Control & Other
Involvement in ad-hoc projects and trouble-shooting issues includingassistancewith the interpretation of relevant technical issues and ad-hoc projects in areas which influence the financial accounting operations asrequired
Take a proactive role in questioning processes in place with a view to continuous improvement
Support other Financial Control and Reporting initiatives asrequired
Technical competencies:
Accounting: ACA/ACCA/equivalentqualification. Good knowledge of financial accounting including technical accounting (to include IFRS) with management/oversight experience post-qualification
Financial Controls: Understanding of controls with an ability to critically evaluate them within a larger organisation
Regulatory: Experience or knowledge of FCA or similar regulatory rules and the asset management industry would beadvantageous
IT Skills: Must be computer literate with strong Excel skills andhave the ability tolearn new systems. Experience with general ledger systems would beadvantageous
Risk Awareness: Ability to understand financial risk and use it to influence decisions and critically appraise processes
Interpersonal: Communication organisation and presentation skills together with the ability to confidently deal with multiple stakeholdersandpreviousexperience managing a team
