At ING we are looking for a Head of Infrastructure Sector Iberia

Your role and work environment:

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Director Head of Infrastructure Sector to join our Sector Team of Wholesale Banking.

As Director you will lead the Infrastructure Sector team in Madrid covering Spain and Portugal working in close collaboration with different product teams. The team will comprise yourself and a more junior member and you will report locally to the Head of Sectors and functionally to the EMEA head of Infrastructure.

This team forms part of INGs EMEA Infrastructure franchise with offices in Brussels London and Madrid. The franchise also extends into the Americas (New York) and APAC (Sydney). We cover primarily infrastructure funds as well as infrastructure companies (e.g. airports regulated utilities ferries) and contractors active in infrastructure projects.

Your key responsibilities:

Client Coverage

• Act as the primary relationship manager for infrastructure clients in Spain and Portugal.
• Support the global Infrastructure franchise in covering key global Spanish and Portuguese clients in their outbound activities across EMEA the Americas and APAC. While supporting global clients in their Iberian investment ambitions.
• Organize and set up internal (virtual) deal teams to drive and coordinate origination with both existing and new clients. Work closely with product teams including Lending Corporate Finance Advisory Debt Advisory Debt Capital Markets Payments and Cash Management Trade Financing and Hedging products to deliver integrated solutions across the full Wholesale Banking product suite.
• Maintaining active and regular contacts with other departments/disciplines within ING such as Corporate Finance Loan Distribution Group Debt Capital Markets Financial Markets Transaction Services and Risk Management to ensure continuous dialogue around our clients needs solutions and innovative ideas to support their growth ambitions.
• Accountable for maximizing fee income and capturing cross-buy at an early stage in close cooperation and consultation with all ING product teams (including Financial Markets CMA and Transaction Services)
• Responsible for commercial alignment and driving commercial prioritization on behalf of the Infra Sector in Iberia
• Engage in senior level dialogues with clients
• Responsible for sales force effectiveness and commercial ambition of the team.
• Lead client meetings negotiations and presentations ensuring ING is positioned as a trusted advisor and strategic partner.
• Identify and promote opportunities in the ESG space with sponsors and portfolio companies to drive sustainability ambitions.

• Contribute to KYC onboarding and remediation efforts as part of overall client relationship.

Transaction Leadership

• Lead the origination structuring negotiation execution and monitoring of complex transactions including acquisition finance project finance fund financing and sustainability-linked solutions.
• Review financial models credit applications and transaction documentation taking into account INGs risk appetite and policies.
• Coordinate internal deal teams and work closely with transaction management and portfolio management colleagues to capture business opportunities.
• Take responsibility for securing commercial and credit support from the EMEA commercial and credit committees.

Strategy development and execution

• Contribute to the Infra commercial strategies target setting client marketing and business initiatives whilst operating within Credit & NFR risk appetite.
• Based on the above design a 2026-2028 Sector strategy that will be used as a guidance for the team on the origination and risk management efforts. Relationship driven approach will have to be embedded in the strategy paper
• Identify and act on commercial growth opportunities including event driven advisory sustainability and outbound business development.
• Apply Commercial Excellence in the way of working.
• Develop and manage Dynamic Plan and further develop potential opportunities - emphasizing profitable growth in line with strategy
• Drive the active portfolio management discussion with focus on i) risk performance ii) profitability of the clients & x-Buy and iii) capital velocity in the Iberian Infra portfolio
• Maintain robust risk culture and performance of the Infrastructure sectors
• Ensure regulatory compliance in line with ING procedures

Team Leadership

• Manage and mentor a junior team member fostering a culture of learning collaboration and high performance.
• Contribute to INGs sector knowledge sharing insights and best practices across the EMEA platform and to INGs strategic initiatives.

Experience/Knowledge

• 9yrs working experience in a client facing role and a project and/or acquisition finance background.
• Demonstrated expertise and a robust track record within the infrastructure sector in Spain and/or Portugal including established relationships with relevant infrastructure stakeholders within the region.
• Experience with diverse product suite relevant to infrastructure clients.

Personal Competencies

• Strong client origination and pitching skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a client centric commercial drive and a true team player attitude.
• Solid financing and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish (Portuguese is a plus).
• Comprehensive Infra sector knowledge and robust Wholesale Banking product knowledge (mandatory)
• Leadership qualities with experience mentoring or managing team members

En ING estamos buscando una persona con talento y entusiasmo para ocupar la posición de Dirección Responsable del Sector de Infraestructuras dentro del equipo de Sectors de Wholesale Banking.

Como Director/a liderarás el equipo del Sector de Infraestructuras en Madrid cubriendo España y Portugal y colaborarás estrechamente con distintos equipos de producto. El equipo estará compuesto por ti y una persona más junior. Reportarás localmente a la Dirección de Sectors y funcionalmente a la Dirección de Infraestructura para EMEA.

Este equipo forma parte de la franquicia de Infraestructuras de EMEA de ING con oficinas en Bruselas Londres y Madrid. La franquicia también está presente en América (Nueva York) y APAC (Sídney). Nuestro foco principal son los fondos de infraestructuras así como empresas del sector (por ejemplo aeropuertos servicios públicos regulados ferris) y compañías contratistas de proyectos de infraestructura.

Principales responsabilidades

Cobertura de clientes

• Actuar como persona responsable de la relación con los clientes de infraestructuras de España y Portugal.
• Apoyar a la franquicia global de Infraestructuras en la cobertura de clientes españoles y portugueses con presencia internacional tanto en sus actividades en EMEA América y APAC como en su actividad inversora en la Península Ibérica.
• Organizar y coordinar equipos internos (virtuales) para impulsar la originación con clientes actuales y potenciales.
• Colaborar estrechamente con los equipos de producto (Lending Corporate Finance Advisory Debt Advisory Debt Capital Markets Payments & Cash Management Trade Finance y soluciones de cobertura).
• Mantener relación activa y continua con otras áreas de ING para asegurar un diálogo constante sobre necesidades de clientes soluciones innovadoras y nuevas oportunidades.
• Maximizar ingresos por comisiones y detectar oportunidades de cross-buy desde fases tempranas en coordinación con los equipos de producto.
• Impulsar la alineación comercial del sector de Infraestructuras en Iberia.
• Participar en conversaciones estratégicas de alto nivel con clientes.
• Liderar reuniones negociaciones y presentaciones posicionando a ING como socio estratégico de referencia.
• Identificar oportunidades ESG con patrocinadores y empresas participadas para impulsar ambiciones de sostenibilidad.
• Contribuir a los procesos de KYC onboarding y remediación como parte de la relación con clientes.

Liderazgo de transacciones

• Liderar la originación estructuración negociación ejecución y seguimiento de transacciones complejas (financiación de adquisiciones project finance financiación a fondos y soluciones vinculadas a criterios de sostenibilidad).
• Revisar modelos financieros solicitudes de crédito y documentación ajustándose al apetito de riesgo y políticas de ING.
• Coordinar equipos internos y trabajar con los equipos de transaction management y portfolio management.
• Garantizar la obtención del soporte comercial y crediticio de los comités de EMEA.

Estrategia y ejecución

• Contribuir a las estrategias comerciales del sector fijación de objetivos marketing a clientes y nuevas iniciativas dentro del marco de riesgo de Crédito y NFR.
• Diseñar la estrategia del sector para 2026-2028 incorporando una visión relacional y guiando tanto la originación como la gestión de riesgos.
• Identificar oportunidades de crecimiento (eventos corporativos asesoramiento sostenibilidad desarrollo internacional).
• Aplicar los principios de Commercial Excellence.
• Desarrollar y gestionar el Dynamic Plan y profundizar en oportunidades de crecimiento rentable.
• Impulsar discusiones sobre gestión activa de cartera centradas en: rendimiento del riesgo rentabilidad y cross-buy y rotación de capital.
• Mantener una cultura de riesgos robusta y sólida.
• Garantizar el cumplimiento normativo y procedimental.

Liderazgo de equipo

• Gestionar y acompañar a la persona junior del equipo fomentando aprendizaje colaboración y alto rendimiento.
• Contribuir al conocimiento del sector dentro de ING y compartir buenas prácticas en la plataforma EMEA.

Experiencia y conocimientos

• Más de 9 años de experiencia en roles con interacción directa con clientes con trayectoria en project finance y/o financiación de adquisiciones.
• Experiencia demostrada y red de relaciones dentro del sector de infraestructuras en España y/o Portugal.
• Familiaridad con una amplia gama de productos relevantes para clientes de infraestructuras.

Competencias personales

• Sólidas habilidades de originación y presentación a clientes.
• Mentalidad emprendedora orientación comercial centrada en el cliente y actitud colaborativa.
• Fuertes capacidades analíticas y financieras.
• Excelente comunicación oral y escrita en inglés y español (portugués valor añadido).
• Conocimiento profundo del sector de Infraestructuras y de productos de Wholesale Banking (requisito).
• Capacidad de liderazgo con experiencia en gestión o mentoría.
