Our Client is an Australia-based accounting and advisory firm providing tailored financial solutions to small and medium-sized businesses across Australia. The firm specialises in tax compliance business advisory bookkeeping and financial reporting delivering practical proactive and client-focused accounting services.


JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive AU-Experienced Accountant with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with Australian clients. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Australian taxation compliance requirements and accounting standards.

This role requires someone who can manage end-to-end accounting processes ensure compliance with Australian regulations and provide high-quality financial reporting and advisory support.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Prepare and lodge Australian tax returns (Individuals Companies Trusts and Partnerships)

  • Prepare BAS IAS and GST reports in compliance with ATO regulations

  • Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards

  • Manage payroll processing and ensure Superannuation compliance

  • Assist with FBT and CGT calculations where required

  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes

  • Liaise with Australian clients to gather financial data and resolve queries

  • Assist in tax planning and advisory engagements

  • Ensure compliance with ATO and ASIC reporting requirements

  • Maintain accurate documentation and working papers





Requirements

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field

  • Minimum 23 years of experience handling Australian accounting and tax clients

  • Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws and ATO compliance requirements

  • Experience with accounting software Xero (including Xero Practice Manager and Xero Tax) will be mandatory and experience with FYI docs Business Fitness Active Workpapers and Now Infinity will be highly regarded

  • Familiarity with ATO portals and Australian compliance procedures

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently

  • CPA/CA qualification (completed or in progress) is an advantage

Required Skills:

At least 4 years experience in Bookkeeping or accounting Xero and Xero Payroll Certifications Intermediate Word and Excel skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Desired Skills or Qualifications: Accounting degree Intermediate MS Excel and MS Word Certification; Well honed bookkeeping skills with above average communication skills Requires a keen eye for detail and proficiency in handling complex financial tasks.
