Job Summary

Production Manager Howick
Our client is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead and optimise their manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Production Planning & Leadership

Develop and execute production strategy aligned to business objectives
Lead motivate and develop production teams to achieve optimal performance
Implement production schedules to improve throughput reduce delays and ensure on-time delivery
Assess production capacity resourcing and infrastructure to support growth

Production Execution & Control

Oversee daily operations and ensure efficient use of equipment labour and materials
Maximise machine uptime and coordinate preventative maintenance
Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement to enhance productivity and reduce costs
Ensure only quality-approved products are released to customers
Maintain high standards of quality reliability and compliance

Financial Quality & Operational Excellence

Manage departmental budgets cost control and investment planning
Ensure operations remain within cost parameters without compromising quality
Report monthly on production performance and key variances

Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with Basic Conditions of Employment Act OHSA and relevant legislation
Lead safety initiatives and promote a strong health and safety culture
Stay updated on legal and industry developments impacting production

Inventory & Supply Chain

Oversee raw material and finished goods inventory
Implement stock control systems to prevent overstocking or shortages
Work closely with procurement and planning teams to ensure seamless operations

Reporting & Decision-Making

Provide daily weekly and monthly production reports
Use data-driven insights to support strategic and operational decisions

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Business Industrial Engineering Mechanical Engineering or related field (Non-negotiable)
5 years experience in a senior production/plant management role within manufacturing
Proven experience managing operations with R50m monthly turnover
Experience leading large teams
Rubber manufacturing or heavy industry experience (Advantageous)
Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing production systems and quality assurance
Strong leadership analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems
Excellent communication skills
Results-driven with a strong commitment to quality safety and compliance
